Your online dating profile is your first and only chance of convincing someone to contact to you. So it had better
be done correctly. If you can't convince someone to contact you, you won't be able to convince them to go
on a date.
- Use a good, clear, recent photo (of yoursefl). First impressions really do count.
Profile photos are so important, we've dedicated a tips page just to them!
- Ask a few (good) friends and family members to write a sentence or two about you, and use the best pieces. Not only must your online dating profile be catchy, but it must be true. It's no good convincing that gorgeous lifeguard to walk on the beach with you, when you'd rather be hiking up a mountain.
- Be descriptive and use adjectives. e.g. "outgoing" is nice, but "life of the party" is much more appealing.
- Try and stick to what you are looking for in a date / relationship, rather than focussing on what you don't want.
- Be sexy, but not lewd. If it gets past the site administrators, it always has the reverse effect on a potential date. Fantasy is often better than reality!
- Put a positive spin on your bad personality traits... "useless on a bicycle". It will attract sympathy and it's a useful ice-breaker.
